Appearance: Haruka stands at 5'5 and looks physically mature for her age. She has light brown hair and brown eyes, though she tends to keep her eyes closed most of the time. She tends to wear her hair long and keeps it in a pony tail, changing the style from up-do to braided to wraps to twists and to the side regularly.
She dresses in a sort of flowy, feminine style, liking things like wench tops, bell sleeves, and pants with ruffled bottoms. Her clothes are perfectly coordinated, though she tends not to mix up parts of different outfits too much since its easier for her to keep track of which looks best with which and what colors don't clash (to furthering simplify, all her stockings and socks tend to be the same color).
She usually has her white cane with her or folded up in her bag. If she's somewhere she's really familiar with though she sometimes goes without.
Personality:
Haruka is a fairly quiet, chill, seemingly laid back person. She tends to let a lot of things happen around her or to her and will sometimes join in because 'why not?' even if she doesn't seem to have a particular interest or investment in it. Sometimes even if someone tells her to do something particularly outrageous and she might even agree, possibly with snark, she'll go do it anyway.
Beneath the initial impressions, Haruka actually has an aura of a strong sense of self-confidence and self-reliance. Though she might let a lot of things happen around her, it almost feels like she's just playing along and humoring the situation or person. She has a warped sense of optimism too, the type of person to believe in some goodness in people while also believing they're mostly IDIOTS in how they go about it.
History:
Haruka was born to Juuri and Ryoki Shikata, and a very supportive immediate and extended family. They moved to Fukui early, where Haruka attended the Fukui Prefectural School for the Blind until around the time she'd be old enough to enter junior high, when her mom got a job offer doing art restoration and miscellaneous work at a university in Kyoto.
Kyoto was Haruka's first introduction to a regular public school and, though there was some adjustments that were needed all around, she seemed to bounce back fine. She's been able to live a mostly average life, even entering a good high school, and seemed like there would be enough opportunities for her post-graduation. Once she passed the Chitoku exam, it seemed to have taken a great weight off for her parents. For Haruka, it's brought mixed feelings but also a cautious optimism about her own future.
Other:
-Haruka can play the piano very well, but her cultural club (and specialty area) is drama. Sports club is swim.
-Haruka is a big radiodrama and anime fan. Chances are she could keep up with the stanchest otaku in news and facts about some VAs too.
-Haruka has a MeTube channel where she uploads clips of fandubs and radiodramas she's done. She has a small but growing following there under the username JacqliFrost.
